Terms and Definitions

Antioxidants: Antioxidants fight free radicals on a daily basis to slow the aging process and give the skin a healthy, luminous glow. SkinScript RX uses pomegranate, cranberry and green tea for its base antioxidants.

Co-Q10: Co-Q10 in the skin produces collagen and increases elastin. It is important to our cellular respiration system and it is an antioxidant.

Glycolics: Glycolic is a sugar cane based alpha hydroxy. Glycolic breaks down the desmosomes (or the glue) that holds skin cells together. The use of glycolics allows skin cells to exfoliate more often to reveal the fresh, healthy cells below.

Green Tea: Green tea exerts sun damage protection by quenching free radicals and reducing inflammation.

Hyaluronic Acid: Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance found in great abundance in young skin - it's the fluid found surrounding our collagen; it gives our skin plumpness. Over time, free radicals, produced mostly through exposure to pollutants and sunlight, degrade our hyaluronic acid. Taken topically, it binds moisture to the skin and provides temporary plumpness.

Jojoba: Jojoba is a plant grown in the southwest and contains forms of vitamin E, a great property for healing the skin. The jojoba beads are excellent as exfoliants; these tiny little beads have rounded edges and will not cause irritation to the skin.

Kojic: Kojic is a natural skin lightener derived from the mushroom. Originally identified in Asia for skin lightening properties, it is widely used as a natural lightener to minimize brown pigmentation and light scars.

Pomegranate: Pomegranate juice and peels contain powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

Retinols: Retinol is a form of Vitamin A. Retinols are used for desquamation (or the breakdown of blackheads). The use of retinols allows clogged pores to release easier, thereby you have less blackheads, breakouts, and smaller pores.
